I have a strange issue with my newest frontend/backend. For some reason, regardless of the type of video (including recordings from a PVR-500, some stored locally, some stored on a remote frontend/backend, MP4 files, ffmpeg files, .h264 files, etc.) I see my display pause for a few frames approximately every 50 seconds (I've timed it with a stop watch, and it's suprising how often I forget to be ready to hit the "lap" button after watching tv for just 50 seconds).

My hardware is a Nvidia 512mb 9600GT, using the latest standard Nvidia drivers for Ubuntu 8.10 (1.72 or something; not the newer beta drivers for VDPAU). This is on a quad core phenom 9600 cpu (2.3 ghz) wiht 4gb of ram. I'm using the internal player, and with the settings I'm currently using, works great, except for the pause every 50 seconds. I'm located in the USA, using 60hz 110vac. I'm displaying the video on a 46" flat panel. When I watch the same files with mplayer or VLC, everything seems to play fine. I've tried several combinations of decoders and interlacers, and I can't seem to change this pause I see. The audio works fine during these video pauses.

What can I do next to try to identify the problem? (I'm away from my machine, and I can't access my log files at the moment; I'll post them in the future if anyone feels they will be of use). Has anyone esle experinced & solved a similar problem?
