Hi

2009/3/13 Bill Williamson <bill@bbqninja.com>

Perhaps take this to the shepherd list...

BUT, what I do is:
-set the "HD" channels to priority -1
-set HD flag to priority +1
-set shepherd into the mode where it puts everything onto the HD channel, but ONLY puts the HD flag if it's "known HD"

It "just work" for me with only VERY occasional problems (mostly due to my being in canberra, and thus having to deal with SC10 etc).

It does the HD recording if it's really in HD, or SD if not. Never both...

Here is what I did...
I deleted all my channel source...

Then I re-ran shepherd --configure
answered the questions as follow:
Do you have High-Definition (HDTV)? [yes,no (default=no)] yes
Answer:
'Nine HD' is going to be populated from 'Nine'
'TEN HD' is going to be populated from 'TEN'
'SBS HD' is going to be populated from 'SBS'
'7HD' is going to be populated from 'Seven'

Then mapped all the channels appropriately.

Followed the instructions there:
http://svn.whuffy.com/wiki/FAQ#HowdoIusesthenewhighdefinitionHDchannels

That is :
First I did:

rm ~/.shepherd/postprocessors/flag_aus_hdtv/flag_aus_hdtv.config

"

Originally the HD channels were only populated with KNOWN HD programs.
The idea is to have both SD and HD, and increase the priority of HD
channels, so programs record as HD when available. To change to this
behaviour use these commands:

cd ~/.shepherd/postprocessors/flag_aus_hdtv
ln -s ../../references/Shepherd
./flag_aus_hdtv --set=action:copy"

Then in mythfrontend,

"To make use of the HD flag, MythTV requires the setting of priorities.
In mythfrontend transverse the menus Utilities/Setup -> Setup->
TV Settings ->Recording Priorities -> Set Recording, and set HDTV
Recording Priority = 2. I also recommend enabling the Reschedule Higher
Priorities option. Then transverse Next -> Finish -> Channel
Priorities, and select each of your HD channels and press left arrow,
to decrease to -1. Cancel exits. This should tell MythTV to record
flagged HD programs on a HD channel and non-flagged HD programs on a SD
channel.
"

There the HD channels were full of :Upscaled SD or Loop" :
So again I did::

rm ~/.shepherd/postprocessors/flag_aus_hdtv/flag_aus_hdtv.config

Ran mythfilldatabase again
Now the "Upscaled SD or Loop" have disappeared.

--

Now I selected Seven News, selected Record at any time on any channel.
In Upcoming Recording, I see that both Seven News on Seven and Seven HD are going to be recorded. Seven News on 7HD is marked with a priority of 1, while on 7 it is marked as 0.

Then I selected a show that I know on SBS that shows on both their SD and HD channel. The show on the HD channel isn't tagged as HD. Select as record at any time on any channels
When I go into the upcoming recording, the SD one is marked with a priority of -1, the one on the HD channel is marked as -2 and show that it won't be recorded (this episode will be recorded at an earlier time instead).

So it does seem to work as intended when the program isn't marked as HD ; but when a program is marked as HD : it will record both.

Will keep this recording and look at what's happening tomorrow with this recording.

Did I miss anything now ?

Thank you
Jean-Yves
