Greetings ---

I've been running my Myth box for almost 5 years now. Have always used the motherboard audio output, but the quality just isn't there (lots of scratching and buzzing, CPU noise, etc).

Upon a recommendation, i picked up a USB audio adapter.
Just turned off the motherboard audio in the bios, plugged it in and rebooted. Anybody using /dev/dsp outputs correctly. And the output quality is waaaaay better than anything i ever got from the onboard sound :)

The problem: the mixer in myth no longer has any effect, so i can't use the volume controls within mythtv.

I've tried:
Audio Output Device: /dev/dsp or ALSA:default
Mixer Device: /dev/mixer or ALSA:deafult

No luck. A bit stuck where to start looking. Suggestions most welcome :)

cheers - j
