I found this remote on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Media-Center-Controller-USB-PC-Computer-Remote-Control_W0QQitemZ220341368849QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Mice_Trackballs?hash=item220341368849&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

From the looks of it, it acts as a partial keyboard. This is pretty
cool - if it works. It would mean that lirc is not needed at all; it
would also let you map specific remotes to specific sessions.

I've looked at the keybidnings table in the database, and - ooomph. Is
there any tool that lets you edit that?

Yan,

IMHO that's not a very good remote for myth... I have virtually the same remote (same design, some different buttons up top), and was dissapointed to find out that the '4-way' pad is actually a 16-way 'mouse' directional pad. It's very hard to configure/use as an up/down/left/right control because of this. It's great for mouse input, horrible for Myth control...

I highly recommend using a Microsoft MCE remote. It will cost you a little more, but you won't be disappointed with it. Search ebay for "(microsoft,MCE,media center) RC6" for the best results... And if you don't have an IR receiver already, look for one that includes it. (It will work with a 'generic serial' IR receiver if you have one)
