With mythtv 0.21 is it possible to get the MBE to shutdown SBEs that
don't have work, without shutting itself down?

TTBOMK, no, but it will exist in some future version (possibly 0.22).

Thanks - I'll lokk forward to that...

in the meantime I switched back to the WOL server solution -
unfortunately my SBE has all the tuner cards and all the storage, so
the MBE doesn't have much information when it's alone...
Ideally I would like one BE and use ACPI Wakeup for the scheduled
startups and WOL for starting at other times, but I can't get both to
work - ACPI only works from hibernate and WOL only from shutdown

Oh well.
