Thanks for the help. I've added the request to the end of http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Feature_Wishlist_(Frontend_Addons).

Also, thanks for the workaround, I've currently been running mythfrontend in a wrapper script which runs mythfrontend and then /sbin/poweroff, which gives me back my shutting down button- however, it still makes the reboot button shutdown the computer instead of rebooting.

Maybe I'll stumble across something better at some point in the future.

Cheers,
Alex

On 24/09/2008, David Watkins <watkinshome@gmail.com> wrote:

the wiki for it to go.

If you report it as a bug I'm pretty sure it would get rejected, with
a comment along the lines of 'unimplemented features are not bugs'.

As far as workarounds go, you could configure the backend to shut the
system down on idle. Then, closing the frontent would cause the
machine to shutdown, providing nothing was being recorded at the time.
Still not quite the same as a regular desktop application but then
MythTV isn't trying to be one. It's trying to be a PVR.

Just an update on this issue. I managed to find a better way to work
around this in the end. Here's a HOWTO I've put together in case anyone
