I've spotted something that might be the issue :

Attribute 'GPU2DClockFreqs' (appletv:0.0): 200,720.
The valid values for 'GPU2DClockFreqs' are in the ranges 90 - 720, 180 -
1100 (inclusive).
'GPU2DClockFreqs' can use the following target types: X Screen, GPU.

Even though I'm setting the vram speed to 800 with both the nvidia-setting commandline and also in the GUI it doesn't seem to take the vram speed. I've noticed in the GUI nvidia-settings when I set the slider to 800 it goes back to 720 every time when I click apply.

Might this be causing my stutter? And - how do I get it to accept the setting? Thanks.

From: hansz_2000@hotmail.com
To: mythtv-users@mythtv.org
Date: Wed, 1 Oct 2008 12:30:49 +0000
Subject: [mythtv-users] AppleTV + Mythbuntu

I wonder if some kind soul here can help me. I've installed a co-exist mythbuntu on my atv and am very close now to having it work for not only SD content but also OTA HD mpeg2 content. The only thing is that when showing 1080 OTA HD it has the slightest of stutters every 2 seconds or so for a fraction of a second. Here's what my cpu/memory usage looks like displaying SD :

5665 hans 20 0 261m 52m 30m S 32.2 21.3 13:30.28 mythfrontend.re
4829 root 20 0 153m 37m 17m S 2.0 15.3 2:44.78 Xorg

And here's what it is running 1080 HD content :

5665 hans 20 0 349m 142m 110m S 83.7 57.8 5:04.90 mythfrontend.re
4829 root 20 0 236m 113m 97m S 14.9 46.2 1:11.36 Xorg

I'm also attaching my xorg.conf at the end of this mailing.

I'm using the mythsettings described here :
http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/wiki/mythtv

But it doesn't quite seem to be enough to get the playback smooth. Does anyone have any tips for me to tweak it down a little more and get it running smooth?
