I Tried to get Myth working on my own. No luck. Then I learned about VLC
media player and I followed these instructions...

sudo apt-get install ivtv-utils

open VLC player

File -> Open Capture Device -> PVR -> OK

then you can do (in terminal)

ivtv-tune -c25 (25 is channel number)

which changes the channel.

This comes from this thread...
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=792509&highlight=ivtv-tune&page=2.

I did view channels for a while and then I started getting this error...
"Unable to open 'pvr://'"

I then tried mplayer, using this command... mplayer /dev/video0.

I get this result...

@ubuntu:~$ mplayer /dev/video0
I was getting video and now I am not. So, do I have a problem that
requirtes fixing before I ask for help with Mythtv, or will I have
better luck if I just forget VLC and mplayer and go directly to Mythtv?

Thanks for listening.
