<div class=Section1>
<p class=MsoNormal>My basic configuration is 3 backends; each with 3 PVR-150s
and 2 disks dedicated to recordings. I’ve got the recording disks
symlinked as /myth/recordings1 and 2. I also have symlinks from /mnt/[hostname]
to /myth (for the local storage) and to /mnt/auto/[hostname] (for NFS shares on
other BEs). This arrangement allows all three servers to see all available
storage at the same place: /mnt/[hostname]/recordings1 (or 2). <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Currently I have each server set up with the 2 local storage
disks in the ‘default’ group: /mnt/[hostname]/recordings1 and
/mnt/[hostname]/recordings2; but I have several questions about this setup:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Since I defined the tuners on my MBE first, they are going
to be first on the ‘tuner preference’ list to record a show (all
tuners are connected to the same source). Will upcoming recordings be passed on
to the SBEs (overriding tuner preferences) when the MBE’s disks are full?<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Also, will a BE ever record to a storage group defined on a
different BE?<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>And related to the above question: when there are multiple
disks on multiple BE’s, what’s the recommended location for
defining all the storage locations?: <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>1. Define all on MBE <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>2. Define local storage on each BE, and remote storage (e.g.
a dedicated NAS box) on MBE <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>3. Define all locations on EVERY BE (would obviously result
in duplicates).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Any help would be appreciated. I’ve looked at the
information in the Wiki (http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Storage_Groups), but
it seems inconclusive with respect to my questions above.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Thanks,<o:p></o:p></p>
