I recently upgraded my frontend from Fedora 8 to Fedora 9. The sound card is on the motherboard, (Intel ICH5) - its been working fine under Fedora 8, but since I reformatted I've been unable to control the volume. I had trouble with PulseAudio using ALSA, so I'm just using OSS. I have the output as /dev/dsp and the mixer as /dev/mixer.

It works fine apart from the fact that the mixer doesn't adjust the volume. Mute works, but the volume is not adjustable. If I use mplayer, and press the volume buttons, it just displays 100%, and won't adjust.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks,

Jonny
