Hi

I've just build a new myth box, receiving 1080i, 720p and SD signals, and am experiencing corruption of the displayed video when I change between channels receiving different types of signals. If I switch from one SD signal to another, or from one 1080i signal to another, everything is fine, but if I switch from an SD signal to a 1080i, or vice versa, what is displayed on screen is not watchable. It is just a mess of colored lines that usually doesn't in any way resemble the picture. It doesn't affect recording, and if I exit back to the menu and then select watch TV again, the channel that I switched to is fine.

So, I am assuming that it is a problem with the filters applied by the playback profile, but switching between the provided profiles doesn't seem to do anything. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the profiles (my past boxes were previous versions of myth and didn't have them to my knowledge) and a couple of hours of looking and reading has not really enlightened me much.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Does anyone have any suggestions on possible solutions?

Thanks in advance for your help - BVJ.

My New Box:
Mythbuntu 8.04 fully patched
MythTV 0.21.20
ATI Catalyst driver 8.7
AMD Athalon X2 64 B4850
Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H with AMD 780 Northbridge & ARI HD 3200 Graphics
Avermedia Super 007 (Digital Only) saa7133 & tda8290

Frontend Log showing channel change - Note that channel was changed from HD to SD at 11:39:42:

2008-07-27 11:39:11.192 TV: Attempting to change from None to WatchingLiveTV
2008-07-27 11:39:11.193 Using protocol version 40
2008-07-27 11:39:13.600 NVP: Disabling Audio, params(-1,2,44100)
2008-07-27 11:39:13.602 DPMS Deactivated
2008-07-27 11:39:13.619 VideoOutputXv: XVideo Adaptor Name: 'ATI Radeon AVIVO Video'
2008-07-27 11:39:13.688 OSD Theme Dimensions W: 640 H: 480
2008-07-27 11:39:14.024 Realtime priority would require SUID as root.
greedyhdeint: size changed from 0 x 0 -> 720 x 576
2008-07-27 11:39:14.038 TV: Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
2008-07-27 11:39:14.060 Video timing method: USleep with busy wait
2008-07-27 11:39:15.933 VideoOutputXv: XVideo Adaptor Name: 'ATI Radeon AVIVO Video'
greedyhdeint: size changed from 720 x 576 -> 1280 x 720
2008-07-27 11:39:16.357 Video sync method can't support double framerate (refresh rate too low for bob deint)
2008-07-27 11:39:16.361 AFD: Opened codec 0x7f724007e550, id(MPEG2VIDEO) type(Video)
2008-07-27 11:39:16.361 AFD: codec AC3 has 2 channels
2008-07-27 11:39:16.363 AFD: Opened codec 0x7f724007f250, id(AC3) type(Audio)
2008-07-27 11:39:16.425 Opening audio device 'default'. ch 2(2) sr 48000
2008-07-27 11:39:16.425 Opening ALSA audio device 'default'.
ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL /dev/mixer
2008-07-27 11:39:16.471 AudioOutput Warning: Mixer attach error -2: No such file or directory
Check Mixer Name in Setup: '/dev/mixer'
2008-07-27 11:39:16.474 NVP: Enabling Audio
2008-07-27 11:39:42.900 NVP: prebuffering pause
2008-07-27 11:39:43.749 New DB connection, total: 4
2008-07-27 11:39:43.749 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost
2008-07-27 11:39:45.885 NVP: Prebuffer wait timed out 10 times.
2008-07-27 11:39:46.685 NVP: Prebuffer wait timed out 10 times.
2008-07-27 11:39:47.078 AFD: Opened codec 0x7f7268653a70, id(MPEG2VIDEO) type(Video)
2008-07-27 11:39:47.078 AFD: codec MP3 has 2 channels
2008-07-27 11:39:47.079 AFD: Opened codec 0x7f72680f5230, id(MP3) type(Audio)
2008-07-27 11:40:05.783 TV: Attempting to change from WatchingLiveTV to None
2008-07-27 11:40:06.024 TV: Changing from WatchingLiveTV to None
2008-07-27 11:40:06.100 DPMS Reactivated.

Click here. Want to help Windows Live Messenger plant more Aussie trees?
