<div>I'm having some problems getting this configured, I want a way to have two frontends on one machine, one frontend to be used as normal, the other to play the pictures only (preferably with auto starting in this mode to be a digital picture frame....) any ideas on how I can get this done? I am no good at configuring the xorg stuff</div>

<div>Would it work for you to just have an xscreensaver that showed pictures when the frontend was idle? Then when you went to watch TV it would just turn off? I think GLSlideShow is one that does this.</div>
