re installing on a hosed/rebuilt system, havent done this in a couple<br>
years ...... screwed up the first install last night and trying again.<br>
~ through synaptic I "completely removed" every mythtv package, and also<br>
mysql. rebooted. and re installed "mythv" through synaptic (.21<br>
through backports) which installed everything again, mysql, etc. why do<br>
all the config pages in setup have all the old info still??<br>

that was why I chose "completely remove" everything. still getting the<br>
all too common famed database error, cannot connect even though I set<br>
same password in setup and mysql.... this took me like weeks to get<br>
working properly the last time I set it up 2 years ago lol, Ive tried 4<br>
different websites, with 4 different sets of instructions because the<br>
wiki has nothing updated for gutsy or at least not the page I was<br>
looking at said "this howto is currently being written please dont use"<br>

...anyway....... how do you completely remove all info, configuration<br>
files, etc so I can start over again?<br>

</blockquote></div><br>Go to your "home" folder, and press "ctrl+h" and you should see a lot of folders that have names that start with a period (like .mythtv) These will contain some configuration files. Try removing everything like you did last night, then delete the ".mythtv" folder, and then do the install. Good luck.<br>
