I have been running my Mythbuntu 7.10 setup happily for about 5 months now. About 1 month ago I noticed some problems after doing some small updates (only those prompted by the Mythbuntu update manager). The biggest problem is that Mythtv seems to act like I'm randomly pressing the up or down keys roughly every 30 mins or so. The behaviour is a jump forward or back when watching recordings or it pops up the OSD for the next channel up/down when in LiveTV. I'm using a MCE2 remote and I'm fairly confident this isn't a random signal from the remote (I've tried hiding the remote out of sight and it still happens). Right now I've unplugged the IR USB sensor that came with the remote to make sure the sensor doesn't think it's seeing a signal from somewhere else. I should be able to tell if that is the problem within the next hour.

Is there a way to log the IR commands that are received by my system so I can try to pinpoint where the problem is?
Has anyone else come across phantom IR signals? Could it be interference from another device? It is weird that it always seems to be the up/down keys. In every case I have not been using any other remote at the time it happened.

I upgraded to Mythbuntu 8.04 after this happened hoping it was a bug that would be fixed but if anything it happens more often now.

Jonno.

--
"If a theory can't produce hypotheses, can't be tested, can't be disproven, and can't make predictions, then it's not a theory and certainly not science." by spisska on Slashdot, Monday April 21, 2008
