I've got an MX440 on Mythbuntu. It sounds like I'm supposed to have XV controls, but I don't know how to enable it. I tried the Overlay option in xorg.conf, but it said that it only works for Quattro cards.<br>

</div></div>nVidia cards after the 5xxx series dropped XVideo picture controls,<br>
but we can simulate some of the controls in the new experimental<br>
OpenGL video renderer. Brightness, contrast and gamma do not simulate<br>
"saturation". The closest would probably be gamma if you are stuck<br>
with those controls. Your best bet might be to locate the picture<br>
settings for your monitor and make the adjustments there. Newer<br>
displays often have a factory setting with the brightness turned<br>
up too high*, which washes out all the colors and compromises the<br>
blacks. Turn this down first, then play with the other sliders.<br>

* There is a good economic reason for this. Most TV showrooms just<br>
unpack the displays and put them on display without adjustment, so<br>
TV manufacturers need to optimize the display settings for room<br>
bathed in copious florescent lighting.<br>

PS If you have a 5xxx or earlier nvidia card, you can enable picture<br>
controls by telling the driver to use overlay for XVideo in xorg.conf.<br>
