We've run into an issue with video playback in Myth 0.21 (never got this even the slightest bit working on 0.20 so I don't know if it's version specific). Note that I do not mean the Recordings but Videos stored on the backend.

If we specify a Unique Player Command for a file - say to enable subtitles - using mplayer the movie plays back fine. It fills the screen, it's fast, and evereything is as it should be. Except the remote.

We use the standard Apple Remote and it appears that Myth does not relinquish control of the remote to mplayer (when I VNC in and quit the movie, any input sent through the Apple Remote translates into menu manipulations in Myth). If we start the same movie from the command line directly the Apple Remote controls the video just fine.

Anyone know how to force the Frontend to let go of its iron grip on remote inputs?

We're running OSX 10.4.11 with all the latest updates and the latest Snider Pad builds of the 0.21 Frontend. Intel Mac Minis.

Thoughts?
