<div>Also forgot to mention, I had a few issues with my setup until I turned on the deadline I/O scheduler. It is far better at managing extreme disk loads, in fact turning that on might fix your problem all by itself.</div>

<div>Here's a quick how-to for turning it on, although it's for RHEL so you probably want to edit /boot/grub/menu.lst instead (make sure you back it up first just in case).</div>
