I had this problem a while back and solved it by adding the following to my modeprobe.conf file (CentOS 5 so adjust to the right file for other distros). options ivtv enc_mpg_buffers=16 enc_vbi_buffers=8 I also saw recommendations in the past that this might be caused by low pci latency set for the hard drive controller in relation to the capture card.&nbsp; In my case tweaking the pci latency did not fix it.
