That was just an example. Every channel "x" has a description "x adding channel" when you look in the channel menu, or in the guide (the left most column). So the history channel, which is on channel 42 where I live, says "42 adding channel" rather than "42 HISTORY" as it says on the table on
schedulesdirect.org. I tried to post screen shots, but the moderators have to approve my post since it's larger that 40kb. However, when I record a program, all the relevant information is there, such as the name of the episode, the synopsis, but the channel is still displayed as"x adding channel."

I also have a stranger problem. When I first set my system up and began receiving data form Schedulesdirect.org, somewhere in the middle of my lineup the channels fell out of sync. Somewhere around channel 24 there are a couple of channels that do not belong (that is to say, channel 24 has the correct information, but channel 25 does not, and channel 26 does not. Channel 27 has the information for channel 25, channel 28 has the information for channel 26...). I assumed that was do to some irregularity between what I receive from my cable provider and what I should receive, but I never had time to fix it. I waited a day until I had time, and when I checked again, the data matched exactly, and the "extra" two channels were no longer listed in my guide. I then figured this was just something that went wrong with a "mythfilldatabase" that was corrected on the next automatic run over night. Then, last night in an attempt to correct the first problem I mentioned, in poking around on schedules direct, I edited/saved my lineup, and then did another mythfilldatabase. As of this morning, my listing is off again, but if history repeats itself, all I have to do to fix it is wait till tomorrow. I don't like that solution.

Are these problems unique? Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I know of one solution, but it seems like treating the symptoms and not addressing the cause. I would imagine this is caused either by bad data coming in, or a database problem. I haven't rearranged anything on schedules direct, and I haven't messed with the database, so I'm not sure where to go next. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've tried searching the wiki, but I have a hard time describing those two problems in a keyword search string.

On 10/10/07, Phil Bridges
