Yes, I have tried using the -s option outside of mythtv but still to no
avail. even if the -s option worked outside of mythtv, would I just put the
external channel change command to be somethign like this:
/usr/loca/bin/channel_ch -s?????

yes in mythtv setup you can add this for the external channel change command: /usr/local/bin/sa3250ch -s

also, to use the channel changer script from within myth you need to allow the mythtv user to own the firewire connection when myth is running. details for that are at:

I wish that made it work but it doesn't.

i don't know what distro you are on but some of the tips in the above link helped me to get things running. like you i'm not capturing off of firewire just wanted it to change channels with firewire.

irblaster.info and I can't
even get that to work. I have followed the guide where you compile a
seperate instance of lirc using the naming convention ledxmit but I can't
get that to work either????? I am using the
ledxmitd.conf within /etc/ that
someone posted on the internet that stated it works with his sa3250, it
doesn't say sa3250hd but I figured it would work. Does anyone have a
lircd.conf that works with this box???
