Damian,<br><br>I'm sure you know this but the<br><br><pre>Modes "1024x768_60" "1024x768_70" "1024x768_75" "1024x768_85" "800x600_x" "640x480_y"<br><br>...line tells X which of the graphics resolutions to (attempt) to use. Of the ones it thinks you can use, it lets you cycle through them as you describe.
<br><br>Your problem seems to be that X for some reason is saying you can't use some/all of the modes.<br><br>This is probably because it thinks that the monitor/graphics card won't support them, hence why<br>we encourage you to use "--logverbose 5" because that tells you what X is thinking about the resolutions.
<br><br>The Nvidia drivers are quite clever and let you create a new resolution WITHOUT a modeline just be specifying XxY_Z<br>in the Modes line as you have done (for an X by Y resolution at Z refresh rate). I expect that having Modelines of
<br>the same format might confuse it.<br><br>Either way use that --logverbose and we might be able to see what's going on...i.e. why it's rejecting your choice of resolution.<br><br>Cheers<br><br>Steve<br></pre><br>

Putting the same information into different modeline generators produces<br>different results. What's a feller to do?<br><br>Used 3 different sites to work out modelines for 1024x768 at 66, 70 75<br>and 85Hz. Only the last one also let me enter Dot Clock Frequency.
