This is getting a bit more nuts:

When I go into a recorded video and go into "edit" mode on the keyboard (hitting "E" the default key) the video stops and pauses...and i'm assuming goes into edit mode. I can then hit "Z" to load commercial cutpoints and step through the thing with no problem, but I get NO overlay of a timeline. Meaning I can't see what i'm doing. So while I can step forward and backward, page up and page down take me to cutpoints and all that, pressing the up and down keys do change the ratio of how far I can step at a time...

I simply can't see what's going on. The video is still there but none of the on screen information shows up in any way.

When i'm in live TV however things are slightly different. When I do things like press the next channel / previus channel buttons there again is no overlay that comes up with the channel...HOWEVER also when I press like channel up and then select (which SHOULD change the channel) nothing happens. I can use the "exit" button to escape out of the live TV show. However when I hit the menu button the On screen menu comes up with no issues...so I don't know if that's different.

Can anyone think of any reason what-so-ever why the overlays for the channel you're changing to or the info area at the bottom with channel, what's on, signal strength/etc. won't come up?

Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated, my wife is home in about a week's time and if this isn't back working i'm going to get that "Gee, it doesn't work again, i'm shocked" look that I hate so much...

All:

So I reformatted my system this week to get a 64 bit version of the OS installed on it (new chip) and put MythTV back up. Things are working OK right now (still a lot of re-configuration left).

Some quick info:
Fedora Core 6 / 64 Bit distribution
MythTV 20.1 (From Axel's repository: atrpms)

However the oddest thing is happening now when I view TV and Recorded programs.

First, when I skip forward (or rewind) I'm used to seeing a gray bar pop up at the bottom with the position of the video, that is no longer happening (the stuff fast forwards, but my "position" in the video doesn't show up anymore). When i'm in live TV I can still fast forward/reverse, and I can still get the OSD Menu up, but I can't seem to change channels anymore (the channel up, channel down doesn't pop up the overlay at the bottom of the screen with the channel info anymore) and typing in numbers (like 30_1) to change to a specific channel no longer works either...however Exit (esc), Fast Forward (Left arrow), reverse (right arrow), and the menu key still seem to work...so it's like I have PARTIAL functionality in my keyboard/remote but not full.

Help? When I re-installed I backed up my .mythtv/lircrc file and restored it (and re-linked it) so I know a used to be working version is back on the system now.

What info do you guys need off the system to help me figure out what's going on here? I've been using Jarod's install guide, but i'm planning on walking back through the default myth documentation as well to see if there's something i've missed.
