I am running Gentoo with the 2.6.18 kernel. I patched the Go7007 drivers and was able to build them with no problems. When I use the gorecord application, I am able to capture video with no problems.

However, when I use MythTV (ver 0.20) I can capture shows, but the sound is horrible. There is this annoying high pitched hum or squeak and the voices are distorted. It is not my frontend system since the distortion occurs when I play the files with mplayer directly on the bcakend.

When a recording starts, I do get the following
errors:

2007-04-01 17:30:06.182 External Tuning program exited with no error
VIDIOC_S_CTRL:V4L2_CID_AUDIO_MUTE: Invalid argument
2007-04-01 17:30:06.840 NVR(/dev/v4l/video0) Error: Can't open vbi device: ''
2007-04-01 17:30:06.936 Started recording: Drake & Josh: channel 2299 on cardid 9, sourceid 2

The recording is normal in every other way, except for the sound.

I am using a 44100 Hz sampling rate. This problem occurs whether I use MP3 audio or uncompressed PCM audio.

I have ALSA with OSS emulation built into the kernel.

If you want to hear an example, you can download a nuv from http://home.comcast.net/~dilorc/Bad_MP3.nuv

Any ideas?
