appreciate if you with more experience can help me, after 3 weeks of reinstalls,
study and practice the same basic problem occurs over and over - upon 'modprobe
ivtv' the "Invalid EEPROM" message appears and no device e.g. /dev/video0
appears so I am going nowhere. I am posting this as a last resort since I am
missing something. It has occurred to me my card/machine is facocked but perhaps
it is newbie operator error. BTW, the machine is a brand spanking new barebones
- Sempron 1.8GHz cpu, 512GB ram, 250GB PATA drive.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

tried 'newi2c' in /etc/modprobe.conf, rebuilding the ivtv drivers and more.
I just cannot get over this. Every other aspect of the machine and Linux seems
to work - just won't work with the PVR-350. The firmware (.enc and .dec etc.
files) appear to be where they should be. I have read what I could from
GossemerThreads, ivtvdrivers.org and the various home sites for the
products listed above. I have read man pages about processes and mechanics -
great learning experience certainly (getting ivtv to finally build after build
failures was neat) and I am happy to do so but after a while -
