He's talking of transcoding MPEG-2 to MPEG-2 with bitrate and resolution
changes. Is it possible to set that up in the transcoding profiles
or
is Myth only limited to MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 in that case?

mpeg2 -> mpeg2 transcode in myth is lossless cut only. It is possible
to do with user jobs and there has been a lot of discussion about that
lately. The mpeg4 from mythtv is in .nuv so very few other
programs/devices will play them.
OP,
Take a deep breath and try to ignore the posts that where antagonistic.
There are some hardware issues on your end and you've had horrible help (3
"admins" couldn't get the nVidia drivers installed in 4 hours?!?
MediaMVP for a hidef frontend?!? WTF ).

No one here said put the loud box in the living room or buy a new one, you said
you where considering buying a new box. I suggested quieting the old
one. The part I left out whas that once you are using myth as the front
end you can use the built-in automatic transcode to bring the HDTV files down
to something your existing box can play on a SDTV.

zap2it has been going through some changes lately. This my be your
problem with the listings. If not you should be able to login, deselect
the channels you don't receive and wait a few days for the old listings to
disappear.
