That looks exactly like my log; and some of my videos do look pretty
crappy. Sorry if this is dumb question but how did you fix it? I'm
pulling video over firewire from a 3250 cable box, how do I adjust the
signal level?

Thanks

I would think getting the video via firewire from the cable box to your mythbox is fine. The problem is probably the signal level of the digital cable coming through the coax into the cable box.

I'm no expert on this subject, but I would try to remove any splitters between the cable box and the main cable line. The fewer splitters the higher signal level you should have. sometimes bad coax can cause a problem too (I had this happen with my cable modem dropping out a lot).

its an easy thing to try, hopefully it helps you isolate the issue. if you look around with google you can probably find out how to get the signal level to be displayed on the cable box.

My problem was actually solved by putting my hd3000 into a different
backend. For some reason, when there was activity in the new box, the
signal level the card saw would drop, even though the actual signal level was fine. others have experienced this problem with the hd3000 and suggested a noisy power supply was the culprit. i'm not so sure.

good luck.
