Hi,
I'd just like to confirm that somebody is actually doing this? Are
there any pitfalls or gotchas I should beware of :) ?
We have Sky in the UK and and present scart feeds our Tivo box.

I plan to replace the Tivo with Myth but would like to retain the
ability to record from Sky and have Myth change channels on the Sky
receiver etc.

Thanks!

Mike
_______________________________________________
mythtv-users mailing list

I just pull the video via scart into a tv-card video-in. Ir control was controlled by a irda module plugged into the ir headers on the motherboard, although when I switched I had to build the simple transmitter circuit from the lirc site, and it only cost a couple of quid for the parts from maplin, and it'd work for Sky as well. If you've got money, and don't want the faffing about then look at the redremote serial device

I followed the instructions from the lirc site and recorded a lirc.conf for my remote control, as my digibox didn't seem to like the downloaded one. I also called channel.pl directly from the excternal channel change field rather than using the wrapper bash script, which just seemed to upset things.

This is a good link for the remote control stuff http://www.nexusuk.org/projects/mythtv/lirc/

cheers

gary
