Hi, I have two xbox frontends. Also bought two dvd remotes. You can get them really cheap. You don't need to worry about it being generic or not, both will work. Although LIRC needs some tweaking to get to work with the generic remote (see pointers here
<a href="http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Xbox_Install_using_E_Images">http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Xbox_Install_using_E_Images</a>). I don't use anything advance features of the mythfrontend, since all I care about is streaming recorded programs to the xbox frontend. As someone pointed out, the menus are slow (slower with
0.20), but once it starts playing, it seems to be okay. I wasted alot of time trying to get wireless to work and gave up, so I stream through the LAN. I am content with the setup, but the xbox is alittle loud to leave on in the bedroom and booting takes some time.

<br>I see there are different versions of the Xbox and you can only tell by<br>looking at the serial code and manufacture date. Do I need to know this in<br>advance of buying it? All the reading I have done on this topic
<br>(<a href="http://www.xbox-linux.org/">http://www.xbox-linux.org/</a>) originally indicated a problem with version 1.6<br>of the Xbox, but it is a bit unclear whether that has been resolved yet.<br><br>TIA<br><br>_______________________________________________
