Can you explain how to make a dummy channel for SVIDEO when
the signal comes across as baseband? I have looked at mythtvsetup
and they all want you define channels on your video source. In
baseband there are no channels.

I would plug in the camcorder, press play, then on the computer
type:
cat /dev/video1 > camcoder-capture.mpg

If you wanted to use Myth you could:
define the Svideo input on the PVR-500, give it a dummy channel, and
then switch inputs and record the camcorder's output the same way
(press play).
