I have found a workable solution, I noticed my new ubuntu install gives focus when you move the mouse over (can set this as default on most wm's?) so I found a program that moves the mouse cursor to the other screen.<br><br>

<div>Dom,<br><br>Well have you tried to look for a window manager to easily change focus? I know that ratpoison has features to switch focus between windows via hotkeys. You could map a hotkey to an irxevent command, and immediately grab focus when needed.
