At one time, I was successfully able to test my PVR-250 using excellent Jarod's guide. Then, I bought a PVR-500, pulled out the PVR-250, updated the ivtv driver (0.4.0, I think), but then the tests just would not work anymore. All I could get was static from one of the tuners. Stupidly, I assumed it was a hardware problem with the PVR-500, exchanged the PVR-500 for another PVR-250, installed both 250s, and I still had the same problem with the tests. Finally, gave up trying to test the cards and I just fired up mythtv and everything worked fine. I wasted a ton of time and energy because the tests didn't work, probably because of the ivtv driver changes, and I assumed it was the hardware because no amount of sonfiguration tweaking would make the tests work.
