In my blind attempts to get the S-video out hooked up to my TV, I changed my X config file to force S-video out. Now when I plug my monitor into the VGA connection, it will no longer output to the monitor and I cannot see what is on the TV in order to log in and modify the config file in KDE.

It would be easier if I knew which distribution you are using.

For the more popular ones, go into /etc/inittab and search for
"default". If it is 5, set it to 3 (redhat-based). If it is 3 set it
for 2 (debian-based). For the others you might have to play around a
bit.

Good Luck!
