I recently applied a bunch of upgrades to my FC4 box via up2date,
including the latest mythtv 0.19-122 release. I had been running an
earlier release of mythtv 0.19. Now my display is stuck at a default
resolution of 640x480 (even though the system is configured to use my
NEC Multisync 19" monitor @ 1280x1024),

It sounds like you are having more than just MythTV problems there. Try and
fix your xorg.conf first.

How do I fix xorg.conf? It is a file that gets created by
system-config-display, and it seems to be correct (except that there is
obviously something incorrect). I read the manpage for it, and maybe I
can twiddle with the mode stuff, but I think I should not have to.<br>

BTW, does it matter that my monitor is attached via a KVM switch?
Could that be throwing off the settings?<br>

Make sure you can still use your tuner outside of MythTV using mplayer or
something. You missed out the vital information about what hardware your
running, perhaps your tuner card's drivers need updating?

I just fired up frontend again, and this time I tried to actually do
something. I was unable to watch TV. I can select it in the gui, but
nothing happens except a small flicker.<br>

As for the other info, I guess I'm not sure what to say. All was
working until very recently. I'm thinking I need to DOWN-grade! Let's
see - my hardware is a WinTV PVR-350, and I'm using on-board VGA
attached to my NEC 19" monitor.<br>
