not sure if this helps or not, but i had a similar problem (audio
sounding like blown out speakers) ... the solution for me was to reduce
mixer levels on my backend to around 50-75% ... works great now and
sounds as good as any live TV channel w/o any myth stuff

I'm running into the exact same problem on my pvr-500. Kinda like a
static in the background. I notice there is a difference in the audio
being much softer with the svideo and rca audio inputs I"m using to
connect up my cable box. Both analog tuners sound perfect. I'm going to
try fooling around with alsamixer and adjusting them if it seems to
have helped you. I'm honestly not sure if this is due to the known tiny
audio problems with the pvr-500 or not<br>
