I am having some issues with lirc.  I am trying to follow Jarod's guide for FC4.  I have the MCE USB 2 receiver and remote.  I copied the lircd.conf to /etc/lircd.conf and then I found an lircrc on gossamer threads somewhere.  I made a file called .lircrc in /home/mythtv/ directory.  When I tried to create an lircrc in /home/mythtv/.mythtv I get an error when exiting out of of vi saying it couldn't write the file.  What am I doing wrong?  I can run IRW and get output when I push the buttons.  MythTV an xine aren't responding to any keypresses of the remote.  Hopefully, someone can help me tonight as I'd like to get this working before the GF comes home.  Here are my current specs:
