This seems to me to be the desired function. When you want to add a
video to your "browse videos" then you need to go into your video
manager anyways to make it scan imdb for its info. Why would you want
it to scan for videos every single time you want to browse your videos?

how about writing a script that checks your video collection every
night at 2am and then updates your DB if there are any changes? is that
