to me like your video mode is wrong. I dont do s-video here anymore but if you
modeline is correct you will not see any more flicker than you would watching a
"normal" video source. Also try the kernel deinterlacing

nvidia-settings flicker filter is set at 127 which minimizes the flicker but
does not eliminate it.</FONT></DIV>

you can think of any settings anywhere that will improve the display quality
