I've not had issues with this card before, but now I am.  I've tried ALSA:default, ALSA:digital, ALSA:pcm and ALSA:spdif and none has worked to get me sound.  Anyone have any other suggestions?  I think I've enabled all the PCM devices in alsamixer.  Also, this box also has an nforce3 mobo with the integrated sound card.  I'd use that if I could find a working .asoundrc, but that has proven elusive.
