do you guys have overscan problem with this method? also would I be able to
do this with my FX5200 with VGA/DVI out?

Jonathan Lin

I have bad overscan. I have read that you *might* be able to fix it with modelines with lower resolution. When I play with powerstrip, I find that my tv won't accept resolutions much outside standard 1080i/480i. I think the last message in a thread that addressed this problem on this list a few months ago stated that a tv technician was required. Seems hard to believe there isn't a better option short of switching to a VGA to componant transcoder.

I currently am running from a 6600 to my TB via a DVI->HDMI cable for 1080i. While this looks great I get tearing and I can't enable vblank because of the current nvidia driver bug mentioned earlier in this thread. If I run directly component out from my 6600 I can enable vblank, but then I get strange diagonal lines over my image that makes me think that just using HD1080i needs a better modeline. Has anyone seen this before or know what the diagonal lines across the image might be related to? I haven't tried PowerStrip yet... I found the current modeline I'm using on a forum post somewhere, but I'm thinking I need to give it a shot with Powerstrip. The other thing I was going to try later today was a VGA->component adapter like the Audio Authority one. I was going to swing by Frye's and see what they have. Either direct component or VGA should work with vblank on the 6600/6200 from what I understand.
