And speaking of PVR500's and HD3000's, has anyone noticed a difference
in file size for the same program, recorded with the PVR500 and with the
HD3000?
I grabbed a number of repeats of a one-half hour show about the Volvo
Ocean Race, from Rogers Sportsnet.
I got shows on analog cable channel 22 and on digital (but non-HD)
channel 404. Same program, time-shifted.
These programs are different sizes!
I'm not at the machine, but IIRC the analog recording was 1.24 G and the
digital recording was .89G (no transcode, no commercial cutting).

I would expect them to be different sizes, but not the ATSC smaller.
Maybe it's your encoding settings.<br>

Maybe the stream on the ATSC channel has less I-frames than usual --
isn't that a practice to save bandwidth (cost).<br>
