I don't yet have a frontend capable of processing HDTV, but I decided
to go ahead and call Comcast and get an HDTV/Firewire box.
I figure I can get the Firewire transport working before I shell out
for a new computer.<br>
<br>
Anyhow, when I asked for a box with a firewire port on it, the rep
said, "A what?" and then put me on hold while she went to find an HDTV
specialist. I was then told that, "at this time, the only
connections supported are DVI and HDMI."<br>
<br>
I said, "Fine, just bring it anyway." <br>
<br>
I'm hoping they just didn't know what they were talking about or just
repeating the company line. I also hope they won't hassle me at
the install because I don't have an HDTV monitor.<br>
<br>
I was told that I couldn't just pick up the box, and that the
technician won't leave until everything is working. To make
matters worse, I won't even be around when they come to do the
installation.<br>
<br>
Hopefully if I leave a note that says, "Dear Comcast guy, I know what I
am doing, please just leave the box and go about your business." there
will be a box there for me when I get home.<br>
<br>
Any helpful advice and or pertinant anecdotes out there?<br>
<br>
Thanks,<br>
