have the exact same problem on a fresh Fedora Core 4 system, lirc runs
fine after I install it the first time, or if I reinstall it. But when
I reboot, it is still running until something tries to access it (ie.

program itself. I had this problem when I did a dist-upgrade on my box,
but creating the symlink given below made everything run smoothly again.</div><span>
