This is exactly why I chose MythTV. I currently have a DirecTV TiVo
unit, but they have restricted the Home Media Option, and disabled the
USB port making it impossible to use a network to dial in. Since I use
Vonage, the TiVo won't dial in via phone. They 30 second skip has been
disabled by default and must be enabled with a remote control button
sequence occasionally, which drives my wife crazy.<br>

I just don't like someone being able to screw with my property. If I
buy a device that performs certain tasks, I don't want it's maker to
later be able to take those tasks away. When your can opener stops
working on all cans, you replace it. Good-bye TiVo, and DirecTV.<br>
