Further question: even though some mythtv modules are not yet ready for
64bit, the main ones seem to be there. Can I still run mythtv for the
most part (considering I get ivtv running, of course)<br>

Looks like it does not work. So before going into myth, you should
make sure you can at least capture a stream like above.
It would be good to join the ivtv-devel lists (Cc'ed and Reply-To set
to there) and help testing ivtv on x86_64.
