[mythtv-users] Database connection/auth problem with Android

I'm updating my setup from mythtv 0.33 to 0.34. Everything went fine
until I went to update the mythfrontend app on my Nvidia Shield; it's
refusing to authenticate to the database with the error "Cannot login
to database". This same Shield was working before I upgraded things.
If I enable query logging with "SET GLOBAL general_log = 'ON'" it
seems like it's trying to connect without a password, even though the
correct password is set in the config page:
---
2024-11-10T01:50:21.337316Z 785 Connect
mythtv at tvdownstairs.XXX.org on mythconverg using TCP/IP
2024-11-10T01:50:21.337437Z 785 Connect Access denied for user
'mythtv'@'tvdownstairs.XXX.org' (using password: NO)
---
Accessing the database remotely from another host is fine. Here's
what the connection attempt looks like from my laptop:
---
2024-11-10T01:53:15.289526Z 808 Connect
mythtv at laptop-wifi.XXX.org on mythconverg using SSL/TLS
2024-11-10T01:53:15.291903Z 808 Init DB mythconverg
---
As part of this work I did move the mythtv backend and database to
another machine. The mysql package versions are the same (8.0.39) on
both the old and new machines, so it's possible there's a
configuration file difference between them, but I'm basically using
the out-of-the-box config on both and they look the same by eyeballing
it.
Have I missed a config setting somewhere?
