I'm pretty sure that I was.  Based on:

1) The machine would not start X until I installed the 
xserver-xorg-video-nvidia-525 package.  All pre-525 nvidia packages were 
removed.
2) I successfully used NVDEC for TV playback.  Nouveau doesn't support 
NVDEC, does it?
