The only thing that I had to do was to get the latest kernel. Default 
kernel (in debian stable) would not do anything more than 800x600 or 
some such low resolution under X. So, to get it working on core 
i3-12100, I had to install regular debian stable and then install the 
version of kernel that matched testing from backports and after that 
myth v31-fixes is happy.

I have a 4K TV connected to the frontend and X defaults to 4K and mythtv 
showed up in the top-left corner. After going through settings and 
forcing 1080p on the default Xorg display, everything is good.
