Just for comparison I have a mythtv V32 system on:
OS: Kubuntu 22.04 LTS x86_64
Kernel: 5.15.0-33-generic
Resolution: 3840x2160
DE: Plasma 5.24.4
Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
Product Name: PRIME B460M-A
CPU: Intel i3-10100 (8) @ 4.300GHz
GPU: Intel CometLake-S GT2 [UHD Graphics 630]
Memory: 2674MiB / 15848MiB

My system is connected over HDMI to my Samsung TV. The receiver is fed by
a SPDIF optical cable from the TV out. I have 5.1 Audio. I first made sure
I had 5.1 setup on my Kubuntu 22.04 settings and had it working on all 5
channels. Then in mythfrontend setup, I set the check boxes for digital
capability for Dolby and DTS. Then I set up 5.1 instead of stereo.
