As an experiment, I moved the HDMI cable from a 5x1 HDMI Switch to directly
plugging into the TV HDMI port. So now it's 1 to 1 Shield TV to TV. That
works as far as no blanking of the screen with muted audio. Since my TV
only has 2 HDMI ports, this is a problem. The FireTV already takes one of
the HDMI ports as it will not work thru the switch. The Switch is a HDMI
2.0 rated switch for what that is worth. Maybe the Shield TV update did
the same thing that the FireTV did that requires nothing between itself and
the TV.
