My database starts in Jan 2005 :-) , and I've just located a DVD with 
one noisy analog recording and two from DVB from 2006.  I suspect I had 
the same AverMedia card as you, and later a DVB dongle which didn't 
'pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer' and 
was something of a pain.  The DVD has been in an opaque wallet and looks 
to play well in recent master; its files are dated 13 Jan 2007.  System 
was RedHat-based from ATrpms...
